Things to Do On Spoil Your Dog Day

August 1, 2020

Spoil Your Dog Day is August 10th! Of course, we always love seeing our canine pals getting pampered. However, it’s always great to give Fido a bit of extra attention and appreciation for his love, loyalty, and friendship. Here, an Anderson, IN veterinarian lists a few things you can do for your pup on his special day.

Pawdicure

Has it been a while since you’ve clipped Fido’s claws? This is a perfect time for it. If you’re uneasy about it, get scissors that are equipped with sensors. Or, just call us to schedule a pawdicure. Afterwards, moisturize your pet’s paw pads with paw balm or wax. Fido will probably also appreciate a gentle paw massage.

New Bed

New beds are one of life’s greatest little luxuries, as far as dogs are concerned. (We’re inclined to agree.) Why not get Fido a comfy new doggy bed? (Tip: orthopedic beds are great options for older dogs and large breeds.)

Treats

No surprises here: treats are definitely going to get that cute tail going. Store-bought treats are fine, of course. Your pooch can also enjoy some plain, cooked meat, fish, or chicken, without the skin, bones, or fat.

Playtime

One of the best things about dogs is the fact that they are so playful. It’s hard to watch them joyfully bouncing around and not smile a bit. Pick up a new plaything for your furry buddy. You may find that this is the highlight of both your day and Fido’s!

Massage

A soothing massage can be just as relaxing and beneficial for dogs as it is for people. This can be particularly helpful for older pooches, or those that are just stiff and sore. Book Fido an appointment with a pet masseuse.

Water Fun

Does your furry friend enjoy swimming? Take Fido to his favorite spot, and let him cool off with a dip. You can also get your pup a kiddie pool, or just let him play in the spray from a hose or sprinkler.

Belly Rubs

Our canine companions are amazingly loyal, and just want to stick close to their human pals. Spend lots of time with your four-legged buddy, and dole out plenty of ear scritches and belly rubs.
