5 Ways To Give Your Dog A Great Holiday

December 1, 2021

Happy Holidays! We know that many of you are looking forward to spending time–and making memories with–your loved ones over the next ew weeks. As far as we are concerned, our canine pals are both friends and family members. Fido definitely deserves something special for being such a good boy all year! Here, an Anderson, IN vet lists a few things you can do to give your furry friend an extra-pawesome holiday season.

Homemade Treats

Do you enjoy cooking? Why not make Fido some snacks? There are plenty of wonderful recipes available online. These also make great gifts for your pup’s playmates! Just be sure to only use safe ingredients. Ask your vet for more information.

Grooming Session

To be fair, Fido probably won’t be too happy about a trip to the salon. However, if you take him to a park, trail, or drive-through after, he’ll probably be pretty excited about that. Plus, he’ll look great in his holiday pictures!

Toys

Playing is fun for pets, but it’s also very important for them, both mentally and physically. A fun play session can also help your canine buddy burn off his extra zoomies. This is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re having company. If Fido’s already tired out when your guests arrive, he’ll probably be much calmer.

Bed

Fido spends quite a lot of time sleeping. If you haven’t gotten your buddy a new bed in a while, it may be time for an upgrade. Beds are great gifts even for pets that already have good ones. It’s always good to have options!

Jacket

Does your pooch have thin fur? A new jacket or sweater will keep him nice and comfy on frigid days. Have some fun with this, and get Fido a holiday-themed coat. Just stick with ones made for dogs, as these are both safer and more comfortable.

Hotel Stay

Are you traveling for the holidays? If you’re going somewhere that’s an easy drive, you may want to take Fido along. However, if you’re going further away, boarding is generally the safest option. Your beloved pet will enjoy playtime, walks, and treats, while being cared for by professionals, and you get to relax, knowing he’s in good hands.
